The other day the folks at Kellogg’s sent me a big ol’ box full of Pop-Tarts and a recipe for Sprinkly Ice Cream Bites to try out with the kids. Hoo-whee is this stuff sweet and, naturally, the kids loved that I made these for their after-school snack. The recipe called for sprinkles, which I didn’t have, and to cut the tarts into quarters, which the kids were opposed to, but I think I did a good job of it if their impatience and ice-cream-smeared faces were anything to go by. I think the next time we try this it’ll be with Chocolate Fudge tarts when the kids all have playdates over– YUM!

Now for the fun part for you Moms & Dads out there! I get to give away a $100 visa gift card from BlogHer to one lucky commenter. So, please tell me, what’s your go-to afternoon snack for your kids? NINE other bloggers are taking part in this giveaway, so you have NINE chances to win. Go check ‘em out at BlogHer.com special offers page. I’ll announce our winner on April 16th.

Our favorite afternoon snack is a fresh smoothie. Any frozen fruit (typically strawberries) some sort of dairy (milk/icecream/yogurt/soy milk)/ a liquid (usually juice) either honey or stevia to sweeten it up and there you go!!!
