Painted rock magnets

By Veronique Christensen — Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I happened upon a cute Etsy store the other day that had these lovely painted rock magnets and I am determined to do this as a project with the kids at home one day soon.

I’ve stuck magnets on all sorts of things in the past, as we’ve made magnetic paper dolls and glass stone magnets as gifts many, many times. But I’ve never seen small rocks painted so prettily as these. I love the vibrant colors highlighted by golds and silvers.

You’ll find these particular rocks for sale on ZamZam Design’s Etsy shop. I think they’d make a fab gift whether you buy them or make them yourself.

What kind of paint do you think they used on the rocks?

  2. oh!! you’ve been talking about my painted pebbles for more than 2 years and I just find out today :) . My kids love to paint some pebbles while I do my stuff, it’s a great project to do with them. Did you actualy do something?

Thanks anyway for the feature and to answer jennifer’s question, I used acrylic paint and water-base varnish. And BTW I have some new sets of magnets in my shop, did you see them?
