Ten.

Ten!

I have no idea where the time has gone. Really, it’s just flown past me in a blur of moments. So much so that I’m quite speechless over this milestone.

My darling Maggie is ten today.

To celebrate, she had three friends over for a sleepover last night. They chattered, and giggled, and whispered until two in the morning. They composed songs about young love (!!), and played hide and seek. They played truth without the dare because dares are so embarrassing.

They ate home made pizzas of their own designs, and Petit Fours of Maggie’s.

Petit Fours

Our version of Petit Fours is very easy; I just chilled a devil’s food cake long enough that it was firm enough to cut smoothly. Cut out heart shapes with a cookie cutter (and made cake balls with the left-overs), then we drizzled icing and sprinkled our decorations. I love easy.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Isn’t it just crazy. I have one that is turning 11 next month. I’m beside myself. Feeling mortal, melancholy, and more aware than ever that this time when they are small is so very fleeting. She is just beautiful.

hooray for 10 year olds. I know your feeling of ‘where did the time go?’ because, as a 52 year old grandma, with an adorable and lovable and unquestionable wonderful 10 month old, I everyday ask, ‘where did this time go?’ I have the EXTREME PLEASURE of being able to care for him everyday (parents are teachers), so PLEASE—enjoy your 10 year old, day and nite. I didn’t go back to work (as a nanny no less!) from my kids until the oldest was 16 years old and my husband thought I better start contributing to the “college fund” I did, but did it matter? Maybe. My eldest is now a funeral director in VA and is 28 years old. On his own. Love him to death, as his brother and sister. My point? Never enough time, never enough money/ Love them no matter what their schedule is, sleeping thru the nite or having sleep overs. My husband and I are so excited at this point in our life to take our ‘own’ vacation each year (usually to FLA) and sit at the pool, drink our wine, enjoy life—and we know that our kids and grandkids will be waiting when we get back! The whole ‘family’ vacation takes place a month later with all females flying to our destination in SC, and the men driving their macho hours without stopping and meeting us in the condo. LADIES—it will get better!!!
